Welcome to our little digital eco village on a mission to help impact making founders and talents build the sustainable cities and communities of their dreams through sustainable development.
A good part of YSI SEA and Interseed was largely driven by the amazing ground up eco friendly support that we managed to secure throughout Southeast Asia featuring players from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and many more that are eager to be a part of a thriving sustainability community achieving SDG goals.
Here are some amazing highlights of what has been done in 2019 we have more to come as we grow our eco community on a track to environmental sustainability and social sustainability!
Thank you for being a part of our sustainability community hosting these sustainability events, green events! Onward with sustainable community development together!
Environmental Sustainability with Cambodia on the way to Sustainable Living!
Monalisa Khun and Vi Lya Seang Vilya targetted a wide range of young hearts from elementary kids to university students with their 3Rs and research workshop!
Youth & Sustainability Workshop aims to introduce young people, at high schools and universities, to the method of researching and creating activity-based projects that supports their actions in homes, schools and communities.
This done by focusing on research methods, frameworks on creating and launching social projects in relevant to sustainability and SDGs, ultimately building self-sustainable communities.
They aimed to raise awareness about the positive impact that youths have on the communities’ development, encourage youth-led initiatives/projects in home, schools, and communities by encouraging students, and suggest methods of researching, developing and launching the project with proper frameworks.
They also had speakers that included
Mong Dia, Orgainizer of 2030 Youth Forces Cambodia
Chan Souly, Specialist Youth Advisory for UNV Cambodia
Monalisa and Vylia also shared how in Cambodia, it is not rare to see pieces of trash scattered along the road, in public places, or sometimes in school.
Even though there are actions that have been taken by government department, the problem still gain little improvement.
There are a lot of factors that contribute to this issue.
The institution that is responsible for these issues lack technical, and financial reach.
Insufficient education and public awareness of the negative impact of waste on health and the environment.
Thus Monalisa and Vylia collaborating with the GNCS team, came up with the 3Rs Warriors Project to help local communities to be more aware of waste management in their surroundings, schools, and homes by first targeting elementary students to for example help shift the focus to sustainable products.
Here's the cool part! (even cooler than what was mentioned). They managed to host it twice and making it a total of 100 participants reached out to about waste management! (Once at Volunteer Building Cambodia- Community Center, Siem Reap Province, and at Prek Pra Krom Elementary School, Phnom Penh).
